Alla Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria Brian Eno dialoga con Perugino e Beato Angelico

“Due idee mi hanno sempre attratto: quella di realizzare la musica come se si trattasse di un dipinto e quella di creare immagini come se fossero musica”. Questa sinestesia di intenti è il fil rouge che, tra le sale della Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria, modera il dialogo tra i capolavori di Piero della Francesca, Beato Angelico, Perugino, e tre opere di Brian Eno. Dal 4 settembre al 10 gennaio, il “musicista non musicista” come l’artista visivo di Woodbridge di definisce, presenta a Perugia la personale Reflected, realizzata in collaborazione con Atlante Servizi Culturali. Courtesy Paul Stolper GalleryTre opere del padre dell’Ambient music, da sempre alla ricerca di una commistione tra i vari campi d’indagine della sua ricerca creativa, dialogheranno con il Polittico di Sant’Antonio di Piero della Francesca, con il Polittico Guidalotti di Beato Angelico e con Cristo morto in Pietà di Perugino.Pietro Vannucci, detto il Perugino, Cristo morto in pietà, cimasa della Pala dei Decemviri, 1483-1495 circa, Perugia, Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria “Pittura e musica – spiega Brian Eno – sono sempre state intrecciate per me. Ho iniziato a giocare con la luce come mezzo all’incirca nello stesso periodo in cui ho iniziato a suonare quando ero adolescente. Quando ripenso a quello che ho fatto negli anni successivi, mi sembra di aver cercato di rallentare la musica per renderla più simile alla pittura, e dare movimento alle immagini per avvicinarle alla musica… nella speranza che le due attività si incontrassero e si fondessero nel mezzo”.Beato Angelico, Polittico Guidalotti, 1447 circa, Perugia, Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria Estendendo i confini temporali con un lavoro che non ha apparentemente inizio né fine, né narrativa, l’ex tastierista dei Roxy Music invita il pubblico a trattenersi in un luogo per un po’ di tempo, assaporando il dialogo inedito tra le Lightbox e gli antichi capolavori, avvolto da seducenti paesaggi di colore auto-generati attraverso una serie di luci a LED. A partire dalla fine degli anni ’70, Brian Eno espone regolarmente come artista visivo insistendo su un lavoro dedicato quasi esclusivamente alle possibilità offerte dal mezzo della luce. Ad arricchire il percorso, Raphael Revisited (2011), una serigrafia dell’artista londinese Tom Phillips legato a Brian Eno da un rapporto di amicizia e collaborazione. L’opera trae ispirazione da una tavoletta votiva di fine del Quattrocento, realizzata da un anonimo pittore umbro identificato in precedenza con un giovanissimo Raffaello e conservata alla Walker Art Gallery di Liverpool che Eno utilizzerà per la copertina dell’album Another Green World.Piero della Francesca, Polittico di Sant’Antonio, 1460-1470 circa, Perugia, Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria Leggi anche:• Brian Eno.
